Denise and Merv
working away on the
12" of rock base on
which the 8" cement
footing and 14" x 30"
grade beam sit on.
Pines we have cut to make way for our
vineyards, residence and road will be used in
all our buildings. Our felled hardwoods will be
used on inside projects such as bookshelves,
cabinets, floors, doors, trim and furniture. The
roof will be a green roof with our own native
wildflowers and an occasional goat to mow it
down. Building this place has always been a
dream of ours--to live on our farm and
entertain our friends, new and old. We hope
you enjoy Counts Hollow as much as we do.
We are 8 miles from one of America's treasures,
the Current River. Come enjoy Missouri, and
"when quality counts--Counts Hollow".
1" by 1' scale model of winery and 2 story cabin.
Vines aren't the only green thing around our place. Our winery will be built using straw bale infill
for the walls. The bales will make the winery extra cozy and cool with an R value of 48. Cement
and earth plaster, made with our own clay on-site, will give the walls a true earthy feel. The
different colors and textures of the clay will add beauty and interest.

First post set - here
we go. Two thirds of
the north wall
framing is set. We
are using a modified
post & beam system.
That way we can use
smaller lumber to
save on materials
and on our backs.
Trusses are in
for the roof.
again to our
Adam and Mark
for all the help.
